Welcome to the GRiL Universe
Somewhere beneath the streets of London, in a defunct Underground station that hasn't appeared on a transit map in decades, a woman with greying auburn hair and a habit of wearing her hair in a bun for reasons she's never explained to her staff is deciding the fate of a continent.
She doesn't wear latex. Everyone who works for her does.
This is the GRiL Universe: a spy-fiction setting where the action is lethal, the technology is absurd, the women are extraordinary, and the tone walks a knife-edge between white-knuckle thriller and full-tilt comedy, often in the same paragraph. If you grew up on James Bond, Austin Powers, Alias, Totally Spies!, or Kim Possible and thought, "What if all of these existed in the same world, and that world took itself exactly seriously enough?", congratulations. You've found your people.
What Is GRiL?
GRiL stands for Girls Ready in Latex. It is an all-female covert special operations agency founded in January 1950 by Eleanor "Ellie" Collins, an OSS veteran, wartime spy, and former actress who got tired of being told women couldn't do the job she'd already been doing for years. She built an agency where women would be celebrated for their competence, their courage, and yes, their curves. The brightly colored latex jumpsuits came later (courtesy of Italian chemist Valentina Rossi, who refused to cooperate with the Axis and eventually channeled her genius into the stretchiest, most bullet-resistant fashion statement in espionage history).
Since 1950, GRiL has operated in the shadows of real-world history. The Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the rise of global terrorism: GRiL was there for all of it, running operations that official intelligence agencies couldn't, wouldn't, or simply weren't built to handle. The agency has passed through three eras of leadership, each defined by a single woman and her philosophy of command. The current era, under the legendary B (real name: Blaire Holloway, though most of her agents don't know that), is the one you'll spend the most time in.

What Kind of World Is This?
The GRiL Universe operates on a tonal spectrum that most settings wouldn't dare attempt. On one end, you have genuine emotional weight: a leader haunted by the mentor she believes she lost; agents balancing secret identities with real relationships; the quiet terror of being nineteen and pregnant with triplets because a supervillain's weapon hit you at the wrong moment. On the other end, you have a villain whose life's work is eliminating fish, a recurring antagonist who projects breast-growth streams from her chest, and a supersonic jet called the TITS Mk II.
The trick, and it is a trick that the GRiL Universe pulls off with more consistency than it has any right to, is that none of this is played for cruelty. The humor is affectionate. The absurdity coexists with genuine stakes. Characters demonstrate real competence alongside the comedy, and the world rewards loyalty, bravery, and friendship in ways that feel earned rather than saccharine.
Exaggerated feminine proportions are a fact of life here. Agents get stuck in hatches. Cockpit consoles become obstacles. One operative famously uses her cleavage as a phone pocket. This is the setting's signature visual language, treated with the same matter-of-fact practicality that Bond films treat their gadgets: part of the world, not the whole point of it.
What's Coming in This Series
Over the next five posts, we're going to pull back the curtain on the GRiL Universe piece by piece. You'll meet the core trio of agents (a Slovenian university student, a French STEM genius, and a Vietnamese teenage hacker who brings bubble tea on active missions). You'll get a look at the technology that keeps GRiL ahead of its enemies, from magnetic boots to invisible jets. You'll tour the rogues' gallery, a collection of villains ranging from the genuinely terrifying to the cheerfully unhinged. You'll see the full map of factions, allies and enemies, government-backed rivals and paramilitary extremists, ninja clans and ideological mercenaries. And you'll dig into the world's history, the decades of operations, betrayals, and sacrifices that have shaped GRiL into what it is today.

Whether you're here for the action, the humor, the heart, the huge boobies, the shiny latex, or the deeply specific joy of watching a pregnant agent dispatch an entire assassin clan, the GRiL Universe has something for you!
Suit up. We're going in.
The GRiL Mini-Series: Next post - Meet the trio. Three women. Three jumpsuits. One extremely stretchy mandate.
