Freyja of the Battlefield: War, Death and the Undying Brigade

Every autumn a small group of elves and humans walks across a field in Aldermark that has never been ploughed. At its centre stands a single block of granite with 212 names cut into it. When the walkers reach the stone, someone begins to read the names aloud. It takes forty-seven minutes. Freyja is best known abroad as a goddess of love. In Aldermark she is also the goddess who chooses who dies in battle, and who keeps them afterwards.
