Gritta Tunnel-Biter is a free goblin sellsword from the Blackpick Union mining town of Grumbleton. Born Pibblette, she was orphaned young and raised communally by mining crews who used her small frame to access tight shafts. At seventeen, a poorly shored tunnel collapsed around her crew, killing one and trapping the others. Gritta clawed and bit her way through a gap in the rubble, literally chewing through crumbling limestone when the fissure was too narrow for her shoulders, breaking teeth and dislocating her jaw in the process. She made it through and went back in with a rope to drag out a wounded crewmate. When she emerged into Grumbleton's main hall, bloodied and spitting gravel, someone called her "Tunnel-Biter," and it stuck.

Two years later she shed her Squall-name publicly and took the Deed-name Gritta. When the Union offered her a fixer position that would have meant enforcing quotas against crews like her own, she turned it down and walked out of the mountains for good.

She now works as a caravan guard and enforcer-for-hire across Verdania, the various border towns, and occasionally as far as Sadoros and Duskwater. She's short, red-haired, voluptuous, and fights in minimal armor with a heavy blade built for close-quarters tunnel work. She's blunt, fiercely loyal to a narrow circle, stubbornly independent, and has turned down recruitment from both the League of Beggars and the Masked Doves. She has no relationship with Glimmermoor, no interest in Arduinnae's court, and no intention of belonging to anything she cannot walk away from.
