Zi-Basirah is a former El-Sabuureh Tide-reader from House Makhmarah who was cast out of the orthodox faction after committing Zinathel's cardinal heresy: acting on a forecast. She read a catastrophe building in the probability-strata and chose to intervene rather than observe, breaking the foundational principle that restraint is the only safe response to certainty.

The act pushed her Tide-reading past its safe threshold. Her probability-sight overwhelmed her physical vision permanently, leaving her unable to process present light. She wears a dark blindfold for comfort, not ceremony, and navigates entirely by reading probability streams, seeing where things will be rather than where they are. Every graceful step is a micro-foreclosure, a small future spent.

Her teal-and-gold robes are a deliberate rejection of the dark, austere Zinatheli palette. The gold references the Growing Tide, the tide of action and transformation, while the white sash and white staff reclaim the formal white normally reserved for El-Sabuureh elders, worn as a permanent declaration rather than a seasonal privilege. The staff itself is carved from archive crystal, set with strata-fragments she uses as fixed reference points for orientation.
