One of Elfdalia's oldest living elves, Sorawani is not her oldest name: it is simply the one she comes back to the most across the centuries. Her thread-name, sa Mimolani, reflects the role she has inhabited longest: the memory-keeper, the one who tends what others might otherwise lose.
She has belonged to the Talinawi three separate times across distinct eras, serving across each as diplomat, interpreter, trauma-worker, and memory-keeper, often all four within a single generation. Between those eras she spent two periods inside the Maliwanon, seeking solid ground when the perception-work grew too consuming. She still believes in the Talinawi's core principle: that perception reshaped with compassion is not deception.
The Banthari armor pieces she wears were gifted to her by a Kalasag Hall warrior she served alongside for four decades as an interpreter during a long and difficult border negotiation. When the warrior dissolved voluntarily at the close of that era, she left the pieces to Sorawani in the Omurith tradition: something carried and worn by the giver, passed on with its history intact. Sorawani has worn them ever since.
She feels most at peace among Omurith elves, which surprises both the Omurith and herself. The Dinleşov finds her hard to trust with their shifting names that register as close to dishonesty in their ears. But Omurith does not rush her or demand she change her nature. Sorawani has not taken a new name in forty years. The Talinawi elders have noticed. What she has not said aloud: she is waiting to understand what she is becoming before she offers it a name.
