Hehkaara of the Third Name is a Kirrath Avattarre sorceress and a rival and antagonist on the Earth-portal question. She began as Tuike (the flicker), a bored spell-tailor's apprentice. At her first transformation she joined the prestigious Säälkotta facet-line as Kiillä (the sheen) and absorbed its creed of brilliance without mess: every transformation modelled, reversible, and clean.

Her mentor, Ilmatti of the Ninth Name, studied field-thinning and set out to prove that Earth's identity-firming was an engineering problem rather than a law of nature. Ilmatti crossed to Earth, came back firmed, never renamed again, and secretly joined the Suljettu, sealing her own research. Hehkaara saw this as Earth damaging the finest mind she knew, not as wisdom.

Her answer was her Third Name transformation. She rebuilt her body as a reservoir for Growing-tide charge, so she could survive on Earth without crystallizing. She performed it under a golden Kultaara sky, and her gold transformation marks and golden staff both come from that working. The Mittalli approved her reversibility proof, but she has since tuned the reservoir past what they signed off on. She is concealing a risk in a culture where concealment is the one real taboo.

She now sits in the Threshold Wardens' study wing and is planning a public Demonstration at the next Refraction: cross to Earth, stay, and return unchanged. That would discredit the sealing wing and the Compact of Mittalli and turn Earth into a frontier for the Avattarre.
