Valeriah Caelissah is a 29-year-old cambion Sentinel of the Marbleguard, Qilinara's knightly order. She grew up in Grubpoint, the Phazani border town on the eastern edge of the kingdom where the foothills meet the Sylvanoran Mountains. Her mother, Sahivenne, was a cambion merchant who had left a Fortune Conclave in Ozmir under undisclosed circumstances. Her father, Yazek, was a Phazani ironworker who died of a lung ailment when Valeriah was eleven. Growing up cambion in a Phazani border town meant being perpetually visible and perpetually outside: tolerated but never quite trusted, played with but never invited home.

Her mother raised her in the Nine Fortunes tradition, but Valeriah gravitated toward Za̅hrani specifically, drawn to the warrior-goddess's clarity: victory through honour, duty without faltering, endurance as the measure of the soul. That devotion has never wavered, even though she now serves in a kingdom that does not worship Za̅hrani.

She left Grubpoint at sixteen, crossed into Qilinara, and found work hauling stone for a masonry crew. A retired Marbleguard Sentinel she met in a tavern told her about the order, and she presented herself at the White Bastion at eighteen. Two years on the Path of Stone, the order's demanding training programme, forged her into a Sentinel. She swore the Marble Oath at twenty.

Nine years of service have made her one of the western garrison's most reliable knights. She has fought in four border engagements, taken two serious wounds, and earned a recommendation for promotion that she has not yet accepted.
