Vehlanna is a Sky Elf Harpy and self-taught battle-mage, born in a high-altitude aerie in the Sylvanoran Mountains. She began her magical training the conventional way, apprenticed to a senior scholar-mage in the formal harpy tradition of documented techniques, spoken forms, and gestural precision. She was competent but never exceptional, and the method felt wrong to her in a way she couldn't articulate.

Everything changed during a border skirmish with a Kinnara patrol, when she watched a wounded Kinnara mage try to channel the Faerie Thread through her body rather than through formal technique. The spell failed because the mage was injured, but the approach itself was sound. That night, Vehlanna abandoned the spoken forms and pushed the Faerie Thread through her wingjoints, her claws, her diving posture. The first result shattered a boulder.

She now fights by diving from altitude, throwing a disorientation spell mid-descent, then closing to melee range with her black spear. Her combat record is beyond question. Her method is the problem. Harpy culture prizes magical and intellectual excellence, but it prizes it in a particular form: scholarly, refined, theoretically grounded. Vehlanna's spellwork is raw, physical, undocumented, and channeled through her body in ways the harpy scholarly establishment considers crude and dangerous. She refuses to formalize her technique or submit it for academic review, which has cost her standing more than once despite her battlefield results. Her growing reputation has drawn attention from Miramira, where Lady Elvinia is weighing whether Vehlanna represents an asset or a problem.
